About 20 people joined our sustainable farm event on Saturday, September 20, 2025. We toured the farm operations at Jubilee Climate Farm and Second Mountain Farm and had energetic discussions about obtaining land, labor demands, developing markets, improving soils, and value added processing. We see this as the beginning of an effort to support sustainable, regenerative farming in the Shenandoah Valley. Their Power of Faith program connects houses of worship interested in reducing their greenhouse gas emissions with experts, coaching, and peer support. Their Tree of Life campaign encourages climate-friendly and ecosystem-friendly practices on faith community grounds.

Homegrown National Park: This is a good resource for congregations that want to plant native gardens and trees on their property. It can also be used to encourage members to convert part of their lawn to a native planting or even in a planter on their deck or patio. Converting our part of God’s creation can be invigorating and fun. The website also has an interactive map showing what others are doing.
Climate Action for Peace: From it’s global development, peace, and justice work, the Mennonite Central Committee has put these resources together to help you understand the global impacts of climate change and how you can make a difference.
